Hit lesbian drama The L Word is to be axed after its sixth and final season airs in 2009. Guest stars on The L Word have included Oscar winner Marlee Matlin.

Speaking of the hearing impaired U.S. actress, Matlin – who can be seen nude in several films – said she planned to use her innate rhythm and powerful digital hearing aids to compete on Dancing with the Stars.
