Aretha Franklin was a little upset after Beyoncé Knowles introduced Tina Turner as “the queen” in the Grammy Awards. Clearly, Ms. Franklin wasn’t just singing to hear, her own voice when she recorded “Respect” all those years ago. She meant it then and, she means it now.
The controversy caused a huge stir in Search as interest in all three divas hit a high note. After she made her displeasure known, queries on Aretha (the real queen, FYI) surged 220%. Related queries on “aretha franklin respect” and “aretha franklin grammys” also spiked. Impressive, but she might be perturbed to learn that interest in Ms. Turner was far higher. The leggy legend posted a whopping 1,873% spike.
For a nickname to mean something, only one person can use it. So, what do you say? Who’s the real queen here?
